Speak Life

I believe what comes out of our mouths is just as important as what goes into our mouths.

Proverbs 18:21 says – Death and life are in the power of the tongue, those who love to talk will reap the consequences their words.
What we say has SO much POWER! I want to encourage you today to read Ezekiel 37:1-14, the story of The Valley of dry bones , God commands Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones. v4, “Prophesy to these dry bones and say to them , “O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!”
What have you been speaking (and Thinking) about yourself or your situation that is holding you back from achieving all that God has for you??
What dry places in your life need you to “prophesy to those dry bones”?
Today and everyday I declare ( fill in the blank) Over myself , my situation , that dry place.

Half Marathon Training, Carb loading and relaxing at night

Happy Sunday! How was your weekend? Mine was a typical weekend full of driving 4 kids to 4 different places all while trying to “squeeze” in a 10 mile run. Thankfully I have an incredible helpful and supportive husband who did all the chauffeuring while I ran for 2 hours.

This happen on Friday afternoon.

My run went great on Saturday morning  and I was feeling so good at the end. Even though I couldn’t feel my legs anymore. I still can’t believe I ran 10 miles. Found this great tee on Etsy.

Homemade Banana Ice Cream

img_5523I am about to Change your life forever! This is my favorite go to sweet treat , night before a long run treat and serious pms treat!

My Banana ice cream….. I am in love. 🙂

Ingredients

2  frozen bananas sliced

1/4 -1/2 cup- Almond milk

1 teaspoon – vanilla extract

1-2 Tablespoons – cacoa powder

1 tablespoon – Almond butter

Super easy to make and you can change it up and add different ingredients to your taste. Nuts, Chocolate Chips, coconut the list goes on . Oh how about a cookie in there! Yum!!

First I invested in a food processor.  This one is a Kitchen aid and I am very happy with it. I know it can do so much more than I use it for but right now it serves it’s making ice-cream job.

As you can see from the picture my favorite things to add are Almond butter, Cacoa powder, vanilla extract and Almond Milk.

The night before or at least 6 hours ahead of time I slice up 2 bananas and put them in a ziplock bag and lay it flat in the freezer. The longer they are in the freezer the better.

When they are good and frozen I add the bananas , almond milk, vanilla, cacoa powder and almond butter. Now depending on your tastes and the consistency you like your ice cream , will depend on the amounts of each you add. It may take a few trial runs to perfect yours. 🙂

After I add all of the ingredients I like to run it for a minute then add more milk if I need to. Then I let it run for about 3 minutes before emptying the ice cream into my bowl. At this point you can either eat it as is or freeze it for a bit. I like to freeze it for about 30 minutes but if you eat it as is , it is like soft serve.

ENJOY!!!!!

Let me know hat you think.

What are your favorite pms treats? Salty or sweet?

Any favorite ways you like to handle your emotions instead of using food?

Leggings, lunch and Zucchini fun

So it actually felt chilly to me this morning when I got up which was a huge change from yesterday afternoon when my car thermomoter said it was 92 degrees.  I welcome the cooler mornings though because it is my preferred time to run and I run better when it is not so hot. I pulled out my long leggings and got to try out my new Lulu lemon running pants. The debate on the way to school was what color they are. I saw purple my kids all agreed they are blue. I just don’t see it. Maybe  I am color blind.

The Atmosphere of My Soul

spaceI grew up in a home with an Alcoholic mother and a father who was verbally abusive. He modeled anger and frustration , lacked peace and rarely showed any love for me and my older sister.

While growing up our home was full of turmoil , fear and uncertainty.

I loved my mom and dad because they were my parents but what I didn’t know was that deep inside of me was growing a root of bitterness and resentment towards them for not being what I needed them to be. And growing up in an environment like this created a shame in me and the ever present thought that I was never good enough. Continue reading “The Atmosphere of My Soul” »

Summer Fun

IMG_5319So the last three days I got to spend some time with these guys. I decided on a road trip to the Jersey shore (despite the fact my husband wasn’t able to go) I packed up 3 teenagers a tween and a 6 year old and off we went.  I know it sounds crazy and well it was a little nuts at times but overall we survived and had a really great time. The Killer of Self Confidence

IMG_4861Comparison for me began at such an early age I think. Before I was even a teenager I can remember comparing myself to my sister.  So often our own siblings are the first ones we compare ourselves with and then we learn to compare ourselves with friends and then random strangers on the street. And of course lets not forget TV and social media. Even in my 30’s I was still in the comparison trap full swing. Continue reading “The Killer of Self Confidence” »

This Scale

IMG_3915

If you have ever suffered from an eating disorder or even suffering right now, then you know that the scale can be your best friend and your worst enemy.

How many times have I stepped on the scale through my life and  felt a major shift in my

mood. And most of the time not for the better.
I allowed the number on that scale tell me weather I looked and felt good. It told me I was acceptable or it whispered ” Come on Karen we can get that number down more”   “your so fat and disgusting” Continue reading “This Scale” »

Today Is a New Day

IMG_4991My Purpose

I  started this blog because I truly felt the Lord laid it on my heart. That years of pain for me has now become my purpose.

My heart is to reach other women of all ages to let them know that they are not alone in their struggle whatever that may be. That there is someone who understands what it is like to live life in shame. To always feel like you never measure up , that you are not “Good Enough”.

If I only reach one person then I will have done my job in obedience to God. For me it is not about the amount of people who come across my blog but the people I impact to make a permanent change in their own lives. Then those people reach out to others and the trickle down effect takes placed millions of women (and men) are reached to change their lives for the Gory of God!
