Hey Everyone! It is day 10 of our 25 Days of Choosing Joy and today we are talking about things that steel our Joy.
So I have a confession to make, today was a hard day for me. I was stressed out and carrying this little ball of anxiety in my stomach all day. My to-do list was too long and my day did not have enough hours.
Do you know the feeling?
Especially this time of year when we have shopping, baking, school concerts, wrapping, then add the regular everyday things like work, laundry, cooking, doctor appointments, pick up from school, and we can find ourselves not very happy and definitely not walking in Joy.
I have found what works for me is writing it ALL down, every thing I need to do big and small. This way I can see it all on paper and the best part is crossing it out as I go along. I don’t know about you but I get such a high from crossing things off of my to-do list. You can simply use a piece of paper or find yourself a great planner, I like this one and have been using it for a few years now. I have tried a few and this one works best for me and I really like that I can customize it to meet my daily needs and schedule.
What I failed to do today was spend time with Jesus before my day began. These days I feel like my feet hit the floor and I am up and running and I am not giving Him the time He deserves and that I need. (Refer back to Day 6 for more on that). What I should have done was get up earlier, even just 10 minutes, and pray over my day, my list and my heart to prepare me for my day. Then when things do not necessarily go my way or something unexpected pops up I am prepared to respond to the day with Grace.
Verse: Proverbs 16:3 niv ~ ” Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.
Action: Pray over your to-do list, your plans and your heart today.
Journal: At the end of the day recall all the ways things went right, not so right and how your heart felt during it all.
We FINALLY got our tree yesterday! (insert clapping) I have been wanting to put it up since the day after Thanksgiving, we like to go cut down our tree so getting it that early is just not gonna happen. I always end up hating the tree come December 26th because the needles are everywhere! So we wait till about the second week of December……usually.
My youngest had the privilege of helping to cut it down this year.
I love a fat tree and this one is perfect, a little bottom heavy but with the lights and decorations I think it looks great!
I tried to get the perfect Pinterest worthy picture of my outfit that day. The whole thing is from Evereve, my new favorite obsession. (Shoes/sweater/jeans) This is how the photo shoot went…… photo bomb by my hubby.
Photo bomb by Jeremy….
And this is as good as it was gonna get!
When do you put up your tree?
Real or fake?
White lights or Colored?
What plans or project do you need to commit to Lord today?
