Where did everyone go?

Hey you. I wrote this post for anyone who is struggling with a circumstance in their life that is beyond your control. Has left you feeling scared. Uncertain. Misunderstood. Alone in your thoughts. When the news of the tragic event, sickness or betrayal first got out your friends and family rallied around you. Committing to pray and stand by your side every step of the way. As time goes on the shock of the new wears off and people (in human nature) go on with their lives. It isn’t that they care any less, it is just that they forget. They see you going on with your life. Smiling. Looking… well… normal. But you’re not. Are you?

The pain is still there. The shock of the news continues to take your breath away.

Where did everyone go?

Not knowing how to face each day when you feel so weak inside. You can not always control the tears. So you isolate.

Where did everyone go?

Ashamed of the hurt you still carry inside. The hurt you struggle to give to God. And Trust.

Where did everyone go?

You finally do it. You shower. Get dressed. This is it. You are going to that social function you have been avoiding. What will I say? Will I feel awkward? I have been away so long.

Does anyone know?

Do they know how long it took me to get to this place? The anxiety I feel driving there? How I almost turned around? The mantra I recite over and over in my head. ” Just breathe and smile”

The truth is… they don’t know.

Life goes on while you are stuck in this place you didn’t ask to go to. They don’t know what goes on behind the closed doors of your home. Your heart.

I know.

The pain. The shock. Loss of breath. Feeling weak. Isolation. Tears. Fake smile. The struggle to let go. To trust.

I know.

In the secret places of your suffering I AM there. I AM in the whispers of the prayers of your heart. I AM your shield. Psalm 18:30. Take refuge in me. Psalm 9:9. You are not alone. 1Corinthians 3:16. I AM your peace and rest. Put your identity in me. I AM your happiness. Joy. I AM your hope. I AM Restorer. Healer. Friend.

IN ME … You are strong. Brave. Courageous. A survivor. A warrior in the making.
