25 Days of Choosing Joy ~Day 12~ Joy Stealer=Pain

Can you believe it is only 12 days until Christmas?! Every year we are so surprised when time goes by so quickly and it does seem to go fast with all the busyness of this season. The clock still has 24 hours on it but I think the reason it seems to be moving at light speed is because of our to-do lists, lack of time to complete it and add in the excitement of Christmas day and you have all the makings for a scientific phenomenon of the earth spinning faster and the time with it. Impossible right…. or maybe not ….

Time is viewed in different ways; hours, minutes, days, months and Seasons. In the seasons in our life and time  are sometimes not on our side. The great seasons we want time to stand still, but during those times when life is not so great we want time to jump into hyper speed like a Star Wars movie. You know….. The scene where the asteroids are floating all around them and they are swerving in their ship to avoid them? Then Luke Skywalker yells “Solo jump to light speed”

The warm breeze of the summer, the falling of the leaves and even the joyous beautiful season of Christmas can bring pain, suffering and tragedy, they come when they want and how they want with no regard for the season we are in. Not even the soft white peaceful blanket of snow can cover the pain you feel inside of uncertainty, fear or even regret.

My husband and I know this type of pain, the kind that leaves you feeling paralyzed physically and emotionally. Something so beyond our control leaving us completely helpless,  at times I feel I am living in a bad dream. An event so tragic that not even family members know because of how sensitive the issue is at hand. Sometimes we suffer in silence and find a new strength in God we may have never have experienced had we not walked through it.

My answer for you today if certain seasons bring back painful memories or you are currently in that season right now, is to turn to God. The word of God reminds us that God is with us to be our comfort, peace, strength and Joy during the hard times in our lives.

2 Corinthians 1:8 ~ We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God who raises the dead. 10. And He did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in Him and He will continue to rescue us.

God also reminds us that His heart is toward those who are suffering.

Psalm 34:18 ~ The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

Psalm 147:3 ~ He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.

And our Victory, our JOY is found only in and through Jesus Christ.

Psalm 62:1 ~ I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from Him, 2. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.

Action: Take time today to surrender your pain to Him. The deepest darkest parts of your soul that whisper to you “will I ever be okay again?” “Will I ever be free from this?”

Journal: As you take the time to seek God and surrender to Him, write a letter to God and put words to your pain, then begin to also write a prayer of Thanksgiving, Praise and Worship to Him that He is working on your behalf in your situation.

I know that life can be so hard sometimes that it takes your breath away and  you wonder if you will ever come out of your current situation. I am here to tell you that we serve a faithful God who never leaves us or forsakes us. He is close to you right now wrapping His loving arms around you and comforting you.

Be encouraged today…. you are not alone.

Pray for me and I will Pray for you…..
