How to Choose Joy Day 7 / Put It On

Every morning when I wake up I put on my pants, sweater and slippers and head downstairs to the coffee pot (I try so hard to beat my husband to the coffee but he gets up so much earlier than me). My coffee addiction is real but it does make me so happy while I am drinking it. While this is not about finding things to make us happy the coffee is just a bonus.

Today I want to talk about putting Joy on, just like we have our morning routines of getting dressed and finding the caffeine, everyday we ought to find and put on our Joy!

God speaks to us about the importance of what we clothe ourselves with.

Ephesians 6:10;14 ~ A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 14. Stand your ground putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on Salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Colossians 3: 10 ~ Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like Him.

Colossians 3:12 & 14 ~ You must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Above all clothe yourselves with love which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

I truly believe that when we “put on” our spiritual clothing and the fruit of the spirit we can then walk fully in our Happiness and Joy.

Action: While you are getting dressed in the morning begin a new habit of speaking out your spiritual armor and say “I put on Kindness” “I put on love” “I put on Joy”  Use it as a tool to get you focused right for your day.

Journal: Cut out a picture of yourself and write the words of peace, love, joy faith etc. Surround yourself with these “put on” words and hang it where you can see it every morning (maybe your bathroom mirror)

Take a picture of your picture and share it!
