How to choose the right health & fitness plan + what happens when you forget your headphones

What happens when you leave your headphones at home when you go for a run?

I did not want to go for a run today… at all… not one bit. But I packed myself up, drove to my favorite running spot. And then it happened , I realized in my fog,  I forgot to unplug my headphones when I left the house.

I sat there in the car for a minute……. I moaned a little….

I was going to just go home but something in me said “Karen, you are stronger than needing music to run” . I don’t know about you but I love my music. It keeps me going, or so I thought.

The minute I took those first few steps I began to realize how much noise I had been allowing in my life, in my head. I have been on overload with so many things lately. Market Research, learning new ways to blog, Instagram, Facebook and 4 kids home for the summer going in all different directions. I was craving the quiet and didn’t even realize it.

With out the music I heard a stream I seriously run by all the time and didn’t even know it was there.

And the cows I pass by…. they actually mooed at me ( or so I like to think) but I have never listened before.

And out of the corner of my eye I see what I thought was a deer but actually it was a fox! And it ran right in front of me. (not the one pictured, I couldn’t get a picture in time) but it looked a lot like this.

Because I turned off the noise coming in my head I was able to hear and see in a different way.

So let’s apply this to your diet and fitness program.

There is so much “noise” coming at us all the time grabbing for our health and fitness attention.

How do we know which one to choose

  • Keto
  • Paleo
  • Low carb ,high fat
  • High fat, low carb
  • count calories
  • macro counting
  • diet pills
  • shakes
  • wraps to shrink places we wish were smaller

The infomercials , bill boards and commercials can leave a person overwhelmed with which one to choose that will work for them.

So how do you choose the right health and fitness plan for you? Where do you start?

Well, the Word of God of course!

1. Remember what God says

Psalm 139: 13-14 ; You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it.

He created you , He knows exactly how every part of your body works. HE knows what is the perfect way for you to eat. But always remember that will include whole, healthy food, no matter how that looks on your plate. So pray, seek God and He will direct your steps and show you which is the perfect way for you to fuel your body.  I am more than confident that he will lead you and direct your steps.

2. Ditch the diet plans for good!

Hebrews 13:9 ; So do not be attracted by strange, new ideas. Your strength comes from God’s grace, not from rules about food, which don’t help those who follow them.

Wait? What?  Did you hear that?

God said to ditch the diets. He reminds us that our strength, discipline and consistency come from His grace working in us. Not the pills, weight loss shakes and fad diets.

3. Fitness… Do what you love

Working out does not have to be difficult. Finding time can be hard but fitness doesn’t.

It is simple… find something you absolutely love! If you love taking a walk; then walk, love bike riding; then ride on, love strength training; then lift. Dancing, yoga, running or sports. I guarentee if you search your inner child you will rememeber what you once loved doing.

If you love it then it won’t be a burden for you. You will actually look forward to it and make the time for it.

Just make sure that whatever you eat and however you move… you do it… FREE!
